Industry Response to the Pandemic of Covid-19
Each year World Nuclear Energy Day has a unique theme. For the event year of December 2nd, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic took center stage. This gave us the opportunity to highlight behind-the-scenes heroes and she-roes who kept the lights on and the power moving. Inaugural World Nuclear Energy Day on December 2nd, 2020 was designed to celebrate the inspirational commitment of people involved in the nuclear energy sector during the pandemic, often thanklessly and tirelessly working to keep the lights on, heating and cooling operational and the smooth operation of essential nuclear facilities.
Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, there was no single, central event. However, there were many events distributed worldwide which were organized and hosted by supporters of World Nuclear Energy Day on or near December 2nd. Scan the partial list below to see the celebrations and events in this archive.

An Event with YOU at the Center!
There were many ways to be involved and individually or collectively to make a difference. People organized outreach events in their company, community and institutions, inspired the public through a professional society or chapter, helped a teacher to bring it into the classroom or become a donor or sponsor; each were advocates for World Nuclear Energy Day!
The PENN STATE Radiation Science & Engineering Center (RSEC) was established in 1990 to manage Penn State's comprehensive nuclear research facilities, including the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor, Gamma Irradiation Facility, Radioactive sources and Radiation measurement resources.
As part of the celebrations in collaboration with World Nuclear Energy Day, PENN STATE will be offering a virtual tour via zoom at 3PM EST on December 2, 2020.
The National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) accelerates the demonstration and deployment of advanced nuclear energy through its mission to inspire stakeholders and the public, empower innovators, and deliver successful outcomes. NRIC is is a national Department of Energy program led by Idaho National Laboratory, allowing collaborators to harness the world-class capabilities of the U.S. National Laboratory System.
As part of the celebrations in collaboration with World Nuclear Energy Day, the National Reactor Innovation Center Webinar Series
invites you to sign up for a webinar entitled "What Inspires Us." The webinar will be held on December 2, 2020 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm ET and will feature Chris Levesque, president and chief executive officer of TerraPower and Clay Sell, chief executive officer of X-energy.

Virtual Face to Face meetings - the way to successful cooperation!
The virtual event at Global Nuclear Physics Innovation (Digital Edition) brings together scientists and companies (buyers as well as suppliers) from the whole world. This is a unique opportunity to generate new cooperation contacts and contracts. Meetings will take place in a dedicated area and will be arranged in advance by means of this website.
The nuclear physics laboratories and facilities have the chance to establish links with international industry SMEs. The goal of the virtual event is to create a strong network of laboratories and industrial partners in the close relation which all the nuclear facilities and partners (better knowledge of the existing facilities for beam industrial users, wider market for technology transfer possibilities).
