Malaysian engineers, educators and supporters organize major event as part of World Nuclear Energy Day celebrations
Universiti Tenaga Nasional had organized a Nuclear Education and Career seminar and Exhibition to commemorate World Nuclear Energy Day on 2nd December 2022.
Prof Ir Dr Izham Zainal Abidin, Dean of College of Engineering (CoE) had delivered a Welcome Remark and Prof Dr Aziz Mohamed had shared some interesting aspects of Nuclear Energy with the audience.
Ms Sheriffah Noor Khamseah Al-Idid bt Dato Syed Ahmad Idid, Innovation and Nuclear Advocates, also Global Network Ambassador - Malaysia for World Nuclear Energy Day had delivered a presentation on Nuclear Education and Career Opportunities in the Nuclear Sector.
Mr Muhammad Hassyakirin Hasim from ATOM Malaysia had delivered a presentation on Career and Competency Prospect and the seminar concluded with Closing Thoughts by Dr Mohamed Syukri Yahya, Senior Lecturer, CoE, UNITEN.
Participants had also opportunity to visit the exhibition organized by Dr Ang and Team Atom Malaysia as well as by Dr Madihah Mujaini and Team UNITEN.

In Central Washington, we have some of the best researchers and technicians in the industry developing cutting-edge technology and conducting innovative research, with the Hanford Site, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Energy Northwest leading the way.
Today is World Nuclear Energy Day, a day to celebrate nuclear energy and all the men and women who make it happen around the globe.
Nuclear energy is clean energy, and I am proud to represent and support such an energy-diverse district!

A Panel Discussion in Brazil for World Nuclear Energy Day 2022
Leaders in Brazil gather for panel discussion of topics in nuclear energy as applied to Brazil. Discussion in Portugese about how to promote the peaceful use of safe, carbon-free nuclear power and to help continue in its important role of generating clean energy for its citizens.
Brazil has two nuclear reactors generating about 3% of its electricity. Its first commercial nuclear power reactor began operating in 1982. Construction of the country's third nuclear power reactor recommenced in November 2022 after being stalled for over seven years. Carbon-free energy for Brazilian businesses and citizens.

UK and USA celebrate World Nuclear Energy Day 2022 with Energy Security Agreement
Britain and the United States will step up efforts to promote nuclear power as a “safe and secure” domestic energy source amid a new partnership aimed at accelerating the transition to low-emission economies and to reach their net-zero commitments.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his counterpart, US President Joe Biden, have announced a new venture to secure supply and reduce price volatility, with the US promising to more than double the amount of gas it exported to the UK last year.
The new “UK-US Energy Security and Affordability Partnership” will aim to reduce global dependence on Russian energy exports, stabilize energy markets and step up collaboration on energy efficiency, nuclear and renewables.
In a joint statement, Sunak and Biden said their new agreement would promote nuclear energy as “a safe and reliable part of the clean energy transition”. “This includes deepening global collaboration on nuclear fuels and advanced nuclear technologies.”
They said both nations would work to deepen global collaboration between “like-minded countries” on small modular reactors (SMRs) and support a resilient and diversified nuclear fuel supply chain.

UAE Launches new "nuclear bank note" on their "Day Celebration" on World Nuclear Energy Day 2022
UAE releases new bank note as part of National Day celebration
The UAE Central Bank has released a new AED1,000 note as part of the country’s National Day celebrations on December 2, 2022. The new AED1,000 note depicts images of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as well as nodding towards the UAE’s space and nuclear ambitions.
The Central Bank was keen to focus on one of their global achievements by placing an image of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi at the back side of the new banknote. The plant will play a key role in diversifying energy sources in the country, reduce carbon emissions and hence enable the UAE to advance further in meeting its international obligations in this regard.

The chain reaction has indeed started in Canada. There is new momentum for Canada’s nuclear sector every day as we look to nuclear as a foundational part of our global goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
This year’s World Nuclear Energy Day theme: “A Chain Reaction.” The theme seeks to remind us of the importance of engaging globally to raise awareness of nuclear not only within our own countries or regions but around the world.
For the Canadian nuclear sector, our message is simple: net zero needs nuclear.
